Abstract:
Jointly with Evgeny Shinder
we prove a universal relation between classes of a cubic hypersurface, its symmetric square and variety of lines on it in the Grothendieck ring of varieties. As a corollary, one can find various invariants of variety of lines, in particular find how many lines are there on a cubic surfaces over various fields.
