Abstract:
This will be mostly a survey article.
I'll explain a circle of ideas (most of them should be well-known, with a few new from my ongoing collaboration with Evgeny Shinder) of how categorical Schur functors (symmetric powers, exterior powers, etc) can simplify and produce some new results of algebraic geometry. Then I'll sketch some roadmaps on proving (either rigorously, or in an alternative way) some of the statements about B-model or A-model of those nice examples of Fano and Calabi-Yau varieties explained by other participants.
