Richard Eager: AdS/CFT and Categories
In this talk I will review constructions of quiver gauge theories occurring naturally in the AdS/CFT correspondence for mathematicians. Several examples using techniques from dimer models and matrix factorizations will be given. I will try to explain how anomaly cancellation in gauge theory can be applied to formulate new conjectures in geometry. As an example I will give a short introduction to my recent proof of the equivalence of a-maximization and volume minimization.
