| I earned a PhD from the National Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA) in 1976. In 1985 I founded the Matmidia group and the corresponding laboratory of which I am since then the director. The focus of my research is on computational mathematics, computer graphics and its application to the geosciences in the oil industry. I have advised several students who are now active researchers in the brazilian computer graphics community. I have been directing projects for Petrobras since 1991 building computer graphics and computational mathematics oriented softwares in areas such as computational sedimentology, seismic, petrophysics and multiphase fluid dynamics. |
